Monica Moon's custom record garden fine art. Records hand molded in new ways with drum sticks, picks and record pieces to create flowers. She listens to the records, then melts them down to create a new life for disregarded records from artists such as the Beatles, Chicago, Elvis Costello and various Jazz artists.

The Nature2 POP display I designed the graphics for won an American Graphic Design USA 2011 Award of excellence. It was one of 8,000 entries this year and only a select 15% were chosen. It will be published in a graphic design awards book and a on-line gallery.

Obsessed with design books, but hates shoe shopping. Yes, not the average woman, but proud of that fact. Design books vary from hand made designs to the most intricate type treatment and color palette studies. This is Monica's idea of fun = reading a good book while hanging out by the beach.

Last night I went to the Grateful Dads concert, which helped raise money for the Chelsea's Light Foundation. What a fun amazing night with family and friends!

A recent 14 day trip to Ireland, France and Italy provided lots of inspiration. One of the fun small projects that I took on while there included an observation of door locks and knobs. Sounds silly to some, but it was fascinating to me how many different designs and styles exist in places as diverse as amazing historic castles to awesome little pubs in unexpected places.

I was recently honored to meet Rafael Lopez (creator of the president Obama posters shown above) and eat dinner with his family, the talented Y Conference speakers, Y14 committee and AIGA San Diego board members.
